Market Rate Finder

Goal

Deliver a data-driven report that identifies reputable pricing sources, gathers at least 10 recent price points, converts them to USD, computes descriptive statistics, and provides an analytical narrative with actionable pricing recommendations.

Inputs to gather

• Product or service (defines what prices to search for)
• Geographic region (limits the market scope)
• Date range (sets the recency window for the data)
• Preferred currency for final results, if not USD (optional, for customized conversions)
Before doing any work, ask the user for these inputs in ONE message. Skip anything they already provided. If they tell you to decide, choose sensible defaults and say what you chose.

Workflow

1. List 8-12 reputable, publicly available sources that report prices for the specified product or service in the selected region during the stated date range. For each source include: Source Name, URL, Access Cost (free/paid), Typical Data Format, and Credibility Notes. Present as a 5-column table.
2. Using those sources, extract at least 10 distinct recent price points that fall within the date range. Compile a table with: Price (local currency), Currency, Unit, Date Observed, Source Name, URL. • If fewer than 10 valid records are found, inform the user, suggest ways to broaden scope (e.g., widen date range or region), and await direction.
   • Otherwise, confirm that 10+ valid records were gathered and proceed.
3. Convert all prices to USD (or the user’s preferred currency) using the latest mid-market exchange rates. Add a converted-price column. Then calculate minimum, maximum, mean, median, and standard deviation of the converted prices. Display these metrics in a clear, labeled block.
4. Write a concise 200–300-word analytical narrative that covers:
   a. Overall price range and central tendency.
   b. Any observable trends or seasonality within the date range.
   c. Key factors driving price variation (brand, quality tier, supplier type, etc.).
   d. Competitive positioning and potential negotiation levers.
   Conclude with a recommended fair market price range and an aggressive negotiation target for buyers (or markup strategy for sellers). Note any data limitations or assumptions that may impact reliability.
5. Present the complete findings to the user and explicitly ask whether the analysis meets their needs or if additional details, corrections, or deeper dives are required. Incorporate any feedback and iterate as requested.

Output

A report containing:

1. Source table (8–12 rows, 5 columns).
2. Price observation table (≥10 rows, 6 columns).
3. Metrics block with converted prices and descriptive statistics.
4. 200–300-word analytical narrative with recommendations and caveats.
5. A closing question inviting user feedback or further requests.
